The Art of Living Stylishly with Blair Farris from PEACHY the Magazine

Y'all know I love a good small world story!  Well... last Spring when I attended the Design Bloggers Conference, I ran into a girl that I had known in college and was in my sorority.  Who would have thought!... And what fun to learn that she had launched a BEAUTIFUL new digital magazine called PEACHY which covers art, architecture, gardens, interiors, entertaining, style, health and inspiration!  It just celebrated it's first birthday last Fall.


So here is the scoop on the magazine.....

In 2013, Blair Farris set out to create and publish a lifestyle magazine honoring her late grandmother’s zest for life and love for all things beautiful. A huge influence on Blair, her grandmother “Peachy” had a big, bold and eclectic style and loved to make a statement with fabulous jewelry and purses, bright colors and creative hats. Peachy’s love for the arts has always inspired Blair, and she instilled in Blair and other family members a passion for living a good and meaningful life.   

Peachy is a digital publication that takes readers inside gorgeous homes, walking them through verdant gardens, enticing the taste buds with delicious food and drinks, inspiring readers with the latest style trends and showcasing beautiful art and architecture, plus so much more.

We once took it on our three week trip out west and plugged it in at a campsite bathroom!


Who or what inspires you most…
Nature - it’s all there - beauty, grandeur, color and details. 


Who would be on your dream dinner party list….
India Hicks - oh, wait... I am having dinner with her next month.  
Peachy, my grandmother, there are so many things I didn’t get to ask her. 

One thing you have always wanted to do... 

go to Thailand.

If you could be anything else in the world, what would it be?
I actually love both of my jobs and the opportunity to be able to use my creative ability.  I think maybe I would like to be a clothing or shoe designer.

The Art of Stylish Living with Jennifer from THE PINK PAGODA!

I am so excited about our February collaboration on things of style and beauty!!

Please meet my very lovely friend, Jennifer, from THE PINK PAGODA.  Jennifer and I met over a year ago and became fast friends but in yet another small world story… it turns out that we have many, many mutual friends and we cross paths in so ways besides just blogging. I just adore her.

Jennifer's blog was one of the very first blogs I started reading… and I think she may be the only person who loves blue and white more than I do!   In addition to blogging, she has a shop that sells the most fabulous blue and white accessories and Chinoiserie prints for the home.  In fact, one of my favorite ginger jars is from her collection.

I've been many times, but my favorite was during the summer of my sophomore year in college.  A friend's family kept an apartment at 55th and 6th, and my parents let me go stay there for a month (what were they thinking?) with a group of girls. Such FUN.  

What are you currently reading?

I'm re-reading both The Little Friend and I am Charlotte Simmons. Not sure how I ended up reading them both at the same time, but both are amazing even the second time around.

Describe your perfect evening...

Nothing exciting.  

What I enjoy most is just being at home with my family.

If you could be anything else in the world what would it be?

Can't choose just one.  

A great writer, tennis player, singer or artist … 

and I could go on!

The Art of Stylish Living with Andrea from The Glam Pad

OOH, how I just love small world stories…And I could collaborate with others on style and things of beauty all day long!  Today on the blog, I am bringing you both! 

Please meet my friend, Andrea from the Glam Pad!  Andrea and I first met almost 10 years ago when we worked on a Texas Ballet Theater committee together in Dallas (and we happen to be from the same small West Texas town…although, I am MANY years older!).  Our paths have recently crossed again in this crazy world of blogging.  I love Andrea's blog and she has fantastic taste so I thought it would be fun to take a peak into her style.

My home is …  

A waterfront, Bermuda-style home in Coral Gables, Florida (Miami). We have been in the midst of a complete gut-renovation for a year and a half, but we are finally nearing completion. Pictures coming soon! 

          

         Describe your style in 3 words…  

          Hollywood Regency meets Palm Beach Chic.

        Who or what inspires you most…  

         I am inspired by my parents and grandparents (I have

         one living Grandmother remaining). I was blessed 

         with strong, resourceful, hard-working, virtuous role

         models growing up, and their integrity and values are

         strongly ingrained in my foundation. 

 A luxury you cannot live without…

Turner Classic Movies. I am convinced that I was 
 born in the wrong generation, and I am obsessed                        
 with old movies from the 1930s – 1960s.

  

Who would be on your dream dinner party list… 

That’s a tough one to narrow down… Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemmingway, The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Winston Churchill, Coco Chanel, Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy, George Washington, Nancy and Ronald Regan, Henry Ford, and Dorothy Draper.  

One thing you have always wanted to do… 

I have always wished I could speak another language fluently. I took French through college, and now I am trying to learn Spanish.

Favorite flower…  

It’s a toss-up between roses and peonies. I love them both, especially in pink.

I wish I knew how to…  

Sew. My late Grandmother was an excellent seamstress, but unfortunately I did not inherit her talent.

Favorite place in the world…  

My husband and I spent our honeymoon on Cayo Espanto, a private island located three miles from San Pedro, Belize. It was pure heaven! But I also love Palm Beach. It’s roughly an hour and a half drive from our home, and since moving to South Florida from Dallas two years ago, it has become my “happy place” where I go to escape the craziness of Miami.

What are you currently reading?   

Oh, I love to read! I just finished and highly recommend The Aviator’s Wife, a fictional biography of Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I’m currently reading A Woman Named Jackie, a salacious and unauthorized biography on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, whom I find positively fascinating.  Next on my list is The Goldfinch, which is being hailed as the Great Expectations (one of my favorites) of our time. And of course, I’m always pouring through a plethora of design books… there were so many excellent ones released last year!

Describe your perfect evening…          

My husband and I love cooking together, so a perfect evening would be a gourmet dinner at home accompanied by a fine bottle of wine. Next, we would snuggle up with our two dogs and watch old black and white movies.   

If you could be anything else in the world, what would it be?

Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to be a great writer and novelist. And I would love to be a Mom soon! J
